The Hack Every Parent Needs in their Garage

When you’re rushing out the door and shuffling your kids into the car, it’s easy to forget a few things. However, it’s usually around the time you have everyone in their car seats and you click your seatbelt that you remember exactly what you forgot. Sigh.
Since this scenario has happened to me countless times – usually when I’m already running late – those extra trips running back into the house ma make really late. So to help out in those frazzled and rushed moments for when I forget to grab a few thing, I started using one hack in my garage and it has saved me so much time. The best part, it’s so simple, is super helpful year round and doesn’t take up much space.
Here’s what you do:
  • Grab an over the door shoe organizer and hang it in the garage.
  • Fill the pockets with items you always need last minute: hair ties, extra socks, change, extra keys, a stain stick, extra bibs, phone chargers, and quick grab snacks.

Clear your schedule and spend a day having some fun in the sun before summer ends. Here’s how to pack the car quickly with everything you’ll need for your late summer beach trip.
  • A mesh laundry basket makes an awesome beach bag. It’s perfect for toys, shovels, and sand buckets because the sand will come right out the basket with a few shakes. However, the basket is perfect for packing up the car. Toss in the towels, bathing suits, and snacks for quick storage.

Going to the Drive In? Try these tips!

One event that needs to be at the top of your summer bucket list is to take your family to a drive in movie this summer. There is nothing like sitting under the stars, enjoying yummy treats, and watching a great movie with your family-now that’s some summer magic. So if you are a drive in novice or an expert, here are a few tips to make your drive in move night a success.    Now here are things you’ll need to consider:
  • Be sure to pack comfy chairs that you can easily fold at the end of the night.
  • Don’t forget blankets. Even though it’s summer, it can still get chilly at night.
  • You can also pile up blankets and pillows in the back of your SUV to make a perfect viewing bed for your family.
  • Don’t forget the bug spray! It can get buggy at night.
  • Dress in comfortable clothes or better yet, dress in your pajamas!
  • Bring a football and a few games to entertain everyone before the movies start.
  • Go early so you can grab concessions and a great spot to park.
  • Most drive ins are double features, so be sure to check the listings and decide if you will stay for both features or just one.

Headed to the Pool? You Have to Try These Pool Bag Hacks

Before you  head off to the pool, you’ll need to pack your pool bag. Of course you’ve got your sunscreen and that book you know you’ll never get a chance to read, but what if there was a way to hack your pool bag so that you have everything you and your kids will need for a day of fun in the sun but not lose everything in that bottomless bag?
So before you grab your towels and sun hat, check out these pool bag hack.
  • If you have a small jewelry organizer, use it to store your valuables, cash, phone, and keys. This way everything has a place and won’t get lost or buried at the bottom of your pool bag. Use the extra pockets to store sunscreen and to keep that book nice and dry.
  • Buy each child a small mesh bag and store their goggles and small swim toys inside. This way everyone has their own bag, their own stuff, and it won’t spill out all over your pool bag.
